“For last year’s words belong to last year’s language, and next year’s words await another voice.” ― T.S. Eliot, Four Quartets
Cruellest Month aims to compile, link, and review the best poems, essays, and works of criticism from independent publications. The online world of poetry, as anyone in our sphere already knows, can be extremely hard to navigate, being spread out across hundreds of different magazines and reviews, all of which vary widely in reader count and distribution. Our mission is to put a spotlight on the net’s best poems, essays, and works of criticism that may have previously flown under the radar, and to review, link, and drive traffic to those works, putting a spotlight on their authors and publications. As fellow poets and editors, we believe in the advancement and appreciation of the art even in its most obscure and unrecognized corners. We welcome editors to submit works and reviews from their own publications that they believe are particularly spectacular, though, of course we will only feature works which we ourselves enjoy. At this time, and due to labor restraints, we are not accepting submissions from poets.
Independent publishers and editors, let us know of extraordinary poems, essays, and criticism that you’d like to have featured in Cruellest Month. Contact us by email: [email protected]
